I always recommend a forage based diet to all of my clients. Wild horses do not eat grains or mushy green grass pastures. They eat dry shrubs and grasses that they find along the way. Feeding grain and grain-based products became a tradition in our day. But what does the horse really need?

I focus in the natural way of caring for the whole horse! This includes a natural trim, diet, mineral balance, etc. It is very important for horses to have a lifestyle as close as their wild ancestors as possible: the wild mustangs!

Everyone knows the phrase "movement is life" but not many people think about horses that way. Their relatives, the wild mustangs, run 15-30 miles a day every day on rocky terrain. Our domestic horses live on soft lush pastures and are stall kept. Is it hard to access which lifestyle would be healthier for a horse... a lazy couch potato or an active athlete?

The natural methods that I use, trimming, diet, care related, provide the horse with the lifestyle it needs. Whether its a pony or a draft horse, they all have the same genes, the genes of wild mustangs, an amazing example to look at and follow!

Sometimes genetic or manmade pathologies get in the way of a horses path to rehab, or we don't have the resources or land to provide the horses with the natural lifestyle they need, but one thing is true for all horses... even the slightest change directed to natural care will make the horse healthier and stronger! Its not as difficult as it sounds!

We do have metal shoe replacements in the 21st century! They provide comfort and hoof stimulation at the same time. They're easy to obtain and last for years... Hoof Boots! Visit the "Hoof Boots" section in the Menu for more info.

Please, before calling me out to the farm to remove shoes off of your horse, know that I will not remove the shoes knowing that the horse would be limping around after that. Doesn't matter what the situation is, even if your horse is sound after removing shoes, I will require you to get the boots for your horse, especially if you're planning to ride them.

YOUR HORSES COMFORT IS IMPORTANT TO ME!
