About Me
Im Denys! A hoof care practitioner who is ready to trim and rehab your horse. My passion for trimming started with my own horse when he was in need of a proper trim. Now, Im trimming hundreds of horses, rehabbing them and maintaining their soundness. I'm always happy to help you out with your beloved pets!
Before my trims
This 10 year old gelding was bought cheap from a kill pen and was rehabilitated. I started trimming him on a regular basis and the owners changed his diet to a healthier one. After my trims
After 6 months of rehabbing his hooves & working on his diet, his health improved big time(photos below). He's now living happily on a farm and better than ever before! ))
I deal with problematic hooves and horses... Laminitis, founder, long toe/low heel, clubbed feet, flared feet, distorted hoof walls, Navicular, thrush, wall cracks, abscesses, thin soles, remove shoes, etc, you name it. I also give recommendations about feeding and balanced mineral supply for the horse, something that I learned and continue to learn from the books and courses from Dr. Eleanor Kellon V.M.D. and Barefoot Specialist Pete Ramey.
I am always happy to work with your vet and find out a solution to the problem your horse has. I have knowledge and experience on knowing how to trim and access the hoof based off of looking at the radiographs & venograms and trimming accordingly.
I have knowledge on how to use and properly fit hoof boots and hoof casts if your horse ever needs them. I can easily measure and provide you with some boots if needed. Visit the "Hoof Boots" section in the Menu for more info.
With proper care from the owner, vet and hoof care professional, many horses have the potential to be barefoot and sound on all four feet and have rock-crunching hooves!

When I first contacted Denys Antonenko for his farrier services, I hadn’t had much luck with local farriers for a bit of time and our pony was super overdue for a trim.
I spoke to Denys and he was out in less than a week and has been out monthly like clockwork to help us correct an issue.
Initially I had been expecting someone older, but Denys quickly proved his age wouldn’t be an issue. He was clearly comfortable around horses and confident in what he was doing. He has emailed me article links of things we discuss, such as nutrition, and also provides me with photos of progress with our pony’s hooves.
But the thing I think I appreciate the most is that when Denys first started coming out our pony was really not very easy to trim, wouldn’t stand very well at all. Never once did Denys complain, we’d just get our bearings, move on and he would stay as long as it took. And continued coming out for trims monthly regardless of this behavior (which has since improved greatly)!
We have also already seen an improvement in our pony’s hooves since Denys has been coming out, we are grateful for his consistence and would definitely recommend him as a farrier!

Denys came highly recommended and I am so glad we decided to use him. I have two rescued draft horses who are both difficult to handle. I had a difficult time finding a farrier that would commit to trimming drafts, let alone ones that don’t stand well. In addition, one of them battles thrush and a cracked hoof, while the other was extremely overgrown. Denys has great problem solving capabilities, while my one 18.2 hh draft refused to pick up his very heavy back legs, Denys remained patient and calm while modifying his plans to trim his feet with precision. He is a young guy who is building his network the right way. Don’t be fooled by his baby face, he has better horsemanship than any of the older cowboy farriers I have used in the past, in addition to a plethora of up to date knowledge.

Denys is without a doubt the best farrier I've ever had, knowledgeable, educates you and really cares about your horses. We've seen much improvement in our horses movement and he is the only person who actually addressed our horses issues with flared hooves.

I always went the traditional route with my horses and their feet. Never had any real issues that way but often wondered about why there were cracks in their hooves with no real explanation as to why. I found myself needing a new farrier and decided I'd seek a different route. Denys came from a recommendation. I was surprised at the knowledge he had for the overall horse.
